Perseids Meteor Shower

Join us on the night of the 12th of August till the early morning hours at Al Awir Desert, and witness the Perseid Meteor Shower!
The Perseids is one of the best meteor showers to observe, producing up to 60 to 100 meteors per hour at its peak. It is produced by comet Swift-Tuttle. The Perseids are famous for producing a large number of bright meteors. The shower peaks this year on the night of August 12 and the morning of August 13. Best viewing will be from a dark location after midnight. Meteors will radiate from the constellation Perseus, but can appear anywhere in the sky.

Event Program:
- 10:30 PM – Introduction
- 10:45 PM – Dinner
- 11:45 PM – Talk: Perseids Meteor Shower
- 01:00 AM – Sky Mapping Session
- 01:30 AM – Q & A Session
- Naked-eye observation of the meteors throughout the night.
- Telescope observation throughout the evening (Saturn, Jupiter, and deep sky objects). TELESCOPES ARE PROVIDED.
- Phone photography of celestial objects through the telescopes.
Important Information
The venue for the event is A Awir Desert - Dubai
The location is Rayna Desert Camp. A precise location pin will be sent by email after you register for the program.
A 4x4 is not required to reach the location
A 4×4 car is not required to reach the event location.
You will be driven to the event location in a 4x4
Once you arrive at the meeting point, you will be driven to the event location in a 4×4 car with other participants. We are providing the 4x4s.
The location pin is where you will be parking your car
You will park your car at the meeting point and our staff will guide you to the 4×4 cars which will drive you to the desert camp.

Please bring a screenshot (on your phone) of the event ticket that contains a QR code to ensure a smooth check-in process.
The weather is expected to be humid
Keep in mind the weather will be hot and humid this time of year in the desert so dress accordingly.
Please dress appropriately
Keep in mind this is a family-friendly event, you are requested to dress appropriately.
Registration MUST be done in advance
No registration will be accepted/allowed at the venue.
Please don't carry extra equipment with you
Please don’t carry extra equipment (tents, chairs, etc.) with you due to limited space in the 4×4 cars.
DAG Members are requested to bring ID
DAG paid members are requested to bring their digital membership card to be presented upon request.
You're requested to bring along your ID
You are requested to bring any form of identification with you to be presented at the venue upon request.
the 4x4 will carry groups of 6 at a time
The 4×4 cars will commence their journey to and from the desert spot only when they have loaded 6 passengers.
Leaving the event
You’re not obligated to stay the full duration of the event, If you wish to leave earlier, inform our staff and we will drive you to the meeting point.
Transport to the camp will be free once
You are provided one free transport from the meeting point to the desert spot and back. Remember to bring all necessary belongings from your car.
Dinner buffet & refreshments will be available
A dinner buffet & refreshments will be available at the event location. Veg & non-veg options available.
Meteors will not be visible through the telescopes
The meteors pass by very fast so it’s not possible to observe them through a telescope.
Kids under the age of 5 don't require a ticket
We don’t recommend bringing kids under the age of 5 to our events.
Kids under 13 need to be accompanied by a parent
Kids under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent. Parents are required to purchase a ticket.
We do not recommend using public transportation
Due to the event ending very late at night, taxis or any other public transportation will not be able to reach this location. plan accordingly.
No pets are allowed
Pets are not allowed at our events and activities.
No alcohol is allowed.
