Join us on November 16th at Al Qudra Desert to experience the final supermoon of 2024 paired with the enchanting Leonids meteor shower. As the supermoon shines brighter and closer than usual, the increased light may dim the meteors, though there’s still a chance to catch a few streaking across the sky. This event includes telescope viewings, stargazing sessions, and interactive talks led by expert astronomers, making it an unforgettable night of celestial wonder.
What is a supermoon? A supermoon occurs when a full moon coincides with its closest approach to Earth in its orbit, known as perigee. This makes the moon appear larger and brighter than usual.
What is the Leonids meteor shower? The Leonids meteor shower is an annual event caused by Earth passing through debris left by Comet Tempel-Tuttle. As particles enter Earth’s atmosphere, they create bright streaks of light, known as meteors.
Program Fee:

- 8:00 PM – Event intro
- 8:30 PM – Supermoon and Leonids talk
- 9:15 PM – Q&A Session
- 10:30 PM – Sky Mapping Session
- Telescope Observation throughout the night of the Supermoon, planets, and perhaps some deep sky objects

Public bathrooms are at Al Qudra Last Exit, a 10-mins drive away from the event location.
CARRY ANY NECESSITIES YOU MIGHT DEEM NECESSARY
Although we will be providing mats and water, you are requested to carry any necessities you might deem necessary over the period of the event (snacks, seats, etc.) for your comfort.

No registration will be accepted/allowed at the venue.

Kids under the age of 5 don't require a ticket
We don’t recommend bringing kids under the age of 5 to our events.
Kids under 13 need to be accompanied by a parent
Kids under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent. Parents are required to purchase a ticket.

Taxis or any other public transportation will not be able to reach this location. plan accordingly.

Meteors will not be visible through the telescopes
Meteors travel across the sky too quickly to be viewed through telescopes, making them best seen with the naked eye.
