Join us for our exciting Astronomy Winter Camp 2021! We have 2 days packed with activities for students to learn all about the work astronomers do at Al Thuraya Astronomy Center. 3rd day of the camp is a special one where the students will join us for a Stargazing and Comet Hunting trip at Al Qudra Desert in Dubai.

Day 1 (22nd Dec) / 4 – 8 PM

  • Intro Ball Name Game
  • Introduction to Astronomy
  • Planetarium Show (Wonders of the Universe)
  • How to Track Comets and NEOs
  • All-Sky-Cameras and How They Operate
  • Observatory Telescope Observation

Day 2 (23rd Dec) / 4 – 8 PM

  • Camping Basics
  • Setting up tents
  • Break – Bonfire
  • Binoculars and Telescopes
  • A Quick Sky Tour/Discover the Constellations
  • Useful Astronomy Applications/Software
  • Certificate Ceremony

Day 3  (24th Dec) / 5 – 9 PM

  • Stargazing Party and Leonard Comet Hunting at Al Qudra Desert – Dubai. Find event details here

Important Information:

  • Students of the camp will get 1 extra free ticket for the Stargazing Party to bring along a parent.
  • Park entrance is AED 10 per car or AED 3 per person through Nol Card.
  • You can purchase/recharge your Nol Card at the park gate.
  • Masks are MANDATORY!
  • Social distancing must be practiced at all times.
  • Please bring the hard copy or soft copy of the event ticket email to ensure a smooth and fast check-in.
  • Dubai Astronomy Group paid members are requested to bring their membership ID card to be presented upon request.
  • We recommend the students bring a packed lunch box as we will not be providing any snacks due to covid and allergy reasons. We will be providing water bottles.
  • All students should wear comfortable clothing, sports shoes, and bring a jacket with them as our center might feel a bit cold at times.
