Join us for a magical two-night Geminids Meteor Shower experience at Al Qudra Desert! From 10 PM to 2 AM each night, escape the city lights and enjoy one of the year’s most spectacular meteor displays.
The Geminids are considered to be one of the most spectacular meteor showers of the year, with the possibility of sighting around 120 meteors per hour at its peak. The shower owes its name to the constellation Gemini because the meteors seem to emerge from this constellation in the sky. Unlike most other meteor showers, the Geminids are not associated with a comet but with an asteroid: 3200 Phaethon. The asteroid takes about 1.4 years to orbit the Sun.
Although the peak of the meteor shower is on the night of the 13th (Saturday), we’re still expecting to see plenty of good meteors on the night of the 12th as well. The event is a two-day program, giving us great chances on both nights.
Program Fee:
- General Ticket: AED 200/-
- Kids (Under 13) Ticket: AED 175/-
Event Program:
- 10:15 PM – Event Introduction
- 10:45 PM – Talk: Geminids Meteor Shower
- 11:30 PM – Sky Mapping Session (Stories about the Constellations)
- 12:00 AM – Q & A Session
- 12:00 AM – Peak of the Meteor Shower starts
- Telescope Observation throughout the night of Jupiter, Saturn, and Deep sky objects.
- Phone photography through the telescopes.

Public bathrooms are at Al Qudra Last Exit, a 10-mins drive away from the event location.
CARRY ANY NECESSITIES YOU MIGHT DEEM NECESSARY
Although we will be providing mats and water, you are requested to carry any necessities you might deem necessary over the period of the event (snacks, jackets, seats, etc.) for your comfort.
REGISTRATION MUST BE DONE IN ADVANCE
No registration will be accepted/allowed at the venue.

A 4x4 car is not required to reach the event location

Kids under the age of 5 don't require a ticket
We don’t recommend bringing kids under the age of 5 to our events.
Kids under 13 need to be accompanied by a parent
Kids under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent. Parents are required to purchase a ticket.
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND USING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Taxis or any other public transportation will not be able to reach this location. plan accordingly.

Meteors will not be visible through the telescopes
Meteors travel across the sky too quickly to be viewed through telescopes, making them best seen with the naked eye.

The weather will be cold and windy so please prepare/dress accordingly.
